A story to make you smile

There are certain memories I often reflect on that never fail to bring a smile to my face. This is one of them.

My friend Anne is an avid reader and writer. She’s wise and articulate and she once told me that I’m wise and articulate too, which obviously bears more meaning since it’s coming from such a wise and articulate person. But that’s beside the point.

My friend Anne, being the avid reader she is, often borrows books from friends and the library. I remember giving her a hard time upon seeing the condition of the book she was returning to Evan, the cook at Egg- the restaurant we both worked at in Brooklyn. Suffice to say it was more than ‘gently used’.

But the story that I love most about Anne and all her books is this: She once borrowed a book from the library, proceeded to take it to a reading by the author and had the author sign the library book. Being clearly only somewhat loyal to the rules of the library, she then returned the book! WITH THE SIGNATURE! How incredible is that? How fun would it be to check out a library book that was signed by the author?

Get’s me every time :)

*Anne, please feel free to fact-check and elaborate upon this story since the details are a bit hazy in my memory.
